N Nazimabad Town staffers without salaries for 2-month
The employees of North Nazimabad Town staged a sit-in against non-payment of salaries today.
The town employees carrying banners and placards staged the sit-in on the city’s busy Sher Shah Suri Road due to which traffic was suspended.
Speaking to the media, North Nazimabad Town Chairman Atif Ali Khan said that due to the non-appointment of the Town Municipal Commissioner the smooth running of town affairs is badly affected. The employees have not issued salaries for last two months. Now, it has become difficult for the employees to come to the office, he added. I have penned several letters to the local government for the appointment of TMC but in vain, Atif Khan said.
The town chairman warned of protest outside the CM House if the TMC is not appointed immediately.
The protesting workers said that due to non-payment of salaries for last two months they are facing starvation. My family is facing severe hardships. “I have not paid school fees of my three kids for couple of months as I have not received salary from the town,” one of the protesters told GTV.
Another protester said that his ailing mother is currently admitted to a hospital but he has no money to buy medicines for her as he has not been paid salary for the last two months by the town. The town is being run without Town Municipal Officer (TMC) that is why salaries are not being paid and fuel supply is also halted, he added.
It should be noted that the employees of North Nazimabad Town have not been paid salaries for the last two months.
