Rescue teams spot wreckage of Raisi’s helicopter
Iran’s rescue teams have located the wreckage of the President Raisi’s helicopter that crashed in the country’s northwest.
Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) chief Pir-Hossein Koulivand announced it in televised remarks in the wee hours of Monday morning.
Pir-Hossein Koulivand said that there was no sign of any survivors in the crash that took place on Sunday.
The helicopter that was transporting President Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other leaders faced some difficulties and made a hard landing.
He further said that the incident happened in the Dizmar forest, nestled between the cities of Varzaqan and Jolfa in East Azerbaijan province.
President Raisi was returning from a ceremony to inaugurate a dam on the Aras River with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev.
