Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi arrested in new NAB reference

ISLAMABAD: After their acquittal in iddat case, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi have been arrested in a new NAB reference related to Toshakhana gifts, GTV News reported quoting sources.

The developments were witnessed after a district and sessions court in Islamabad acquitted the former premier and his spouse in the iddat case.

A team of the anti-corruption watchdog headed by Deputy Director Mohsin Haroon reached Adiala Jail and questioned the former first lady over alleged “misuse of power for acquiring Toshakhana gifts”.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his third wife were acquitted on charges of marrying unlawfully by a Islamabad court on Saturday.

Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka announced short order reserved earlier in the day.

The duo was sentenced to seven years in prison and awarded a fine of Rs500,000 each, in February. They were found guilty by trial court as Khawar Maneka, Bushra’s ex-husband, moved the court against the couple’s marriage.

It is pertinent to mention here that all four jail sentences Khan received ahead of a February national election have now been overturned or suspended.

Khan has secured relief in £190 million reference, Toshakhana and the cipher cases.

However, an ATC in Lahore earlier this week dismissed his pre-arrest bail in vandalism cases related to the violent protests.
