Justice (Retd) Maqbool Baqir also refuses to become SC ad hoc judge
After Justice (Retd) Mushir Alam, Justice (Retd) Maqbool Baqir also refused to become an ad hoc judge of the Supreme Court.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf opposed the appointment of 4 ad hoc judges in the Supreme Court.
It should be remembered that a meeting of the Judicial Commission has been called on July 19 for the appointment of ad hoc judges in the Supreme Court, in which 4 names for ad hoc judges will be considered.
Sources said that Justice Retired Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Retired Mazhar Alam Mian Khel have agreed to be appointed as ad hoc judges in the Supreme Court, however, Justice Retired Mushir Alam declined to become judge of the apex court. In his letter to Judicial Commission of Pakistan, he said: “Allah has honored me more than my position, I am deeply disappointed by the campaign started on social media after the nomination of ad hoc judges. I apologize for working as an ad hoc judge in the current situation.”
Justice Retired Maqbool Baqir had not submitted any response regarding ad hoc judge. But now there are reports that Justice (Retd) Maqbool Baqir has also refused to become an ad hoc judge.
On the other hand, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar said that there is no example of simultaneous appointment of 4 ad hoc judges in the Supreme Court.
He said that no ad hoc judge has been appointed in the Supreme Court since 2015. It will not reduce the caseload, but it is feared that the purpose of this move is related to the reserved seats of PTI. The Chief Justice should avoid judicial disputes at this juncture.
