Hamas delegation reaches Cairo for Gaza ceasefire talks
A Hamas delegation headed by its senior official Khalil al-Hayya arrived in Cairo on Saturday to hear from mediators on the latest round of Gaza ceasefire talks.
According to the Egyptian security sources the US and Israeli teams began new negotiations in Cairo on Thursday, which lasted for two days to resolve differences over a proposed truce.
Egypt, along with the US and Qatar, has been involved in mediating ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.
In July this year, Hamas agreed to US proposals to start talks on releasing Israeli hostages, including soldiers and civilians, after the initial phase of an agreement to end the Gaza conflict.
It is to be noted that more than 40,000 people have been martyred in Gaza since Oct 7.
Earlier, a retired Major General of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) has claimed that Israel will be wiped out of existence by next year due to the war with Hamas and tensions with Iran.
In a statement regarding the current situation in the Middle East, ongoing war with Hamas and the tension with Iran, Maj Gen Yitzhak Barik warned that if Hamas and Israel start a war in the region in the event of failure of the Israel negotiations, Tel Aviv will be under serious threats, several statements by Defence Minister Yoav Gallant regarding the goals of the Gaza war have not yet been fulfilled and if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his allies are not replaced then the country will be destroyed by the next year.
