3 KU syndicate members oppose honorary PhD for Dr Zakir Naik
The University of Karachi approved the award of an honorary Ph.D. degree to renowned religious scholar Dr. Zakir Naik.
According to the details, the University of Karachi has approved an honorary degree of Ph.D for Dr. Zakir Naik. However, three members of the syndicate expressed their reservations and opposed the awarding of honorary degree to the Islamic scholar. The three members are nominated by the government of Sindh in University of Karachi, including Sadia Javed, Shahida Rahmani and Sahibzada Moazzam Qureshi. .
Sources said that these three members expressed reservations about giving honorary degree to Dr. Zakir Naik and disagreed with his opinion especially regarding women.
It should be noted that the special meeting of the syndicate was called in the light of the letter received from Sindh Governor Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori.
The governor had recommended Dr. Zakir Abdul Karim Naik to be awarded the honourary degree of PhD.
