United Nations General Assembly demands establishment of Palestinian state

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has passed a resolution demanding Israel to withdraw from the occupied Palestinian territories for the establishment of a Palestinian state.

The General Assembly approved the resolution by 157 votes to 8, the US and Israel opposed the resolution while 7 countries did not participate in the voting.

The UNGA also recognized the Palestinian right to self-determination and an independent state, while declaring the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip illegal.

In the meeting of the General Assembly, it was expressed unwavering support for the two-state solution of the Palestinian issue under international laws, and said that according to the 1967 border division, the two-state solution means that the two should live in peace and order with each other.

During the meeting, it was also announced to convene a high-level international conference to ensure a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue through diplomatic efforts under the joint presidency of France and Saudi Arabia in New York in June 2025.
