Police Scotland reverse order to shave frontline officers’ beards

08 December, 2024 12:33

Police Scotland have withdrawn its order to shave the beards of its frontline officers.

According to the BBC, a clean-shave policy was to be introduced in Police Scotland in May last year, but its implementation was delayed for 12 months due to controversy.

According to media reports, the purpose of this policy was to facilitate the wearing of the controversial protective face mask.

The force has now said that Police Scotland have withdrawn its order to shave the beards of its frontline officers and there are no plans to introduce the changes.

Officials say that the mask plan is no longer being considered, while £60,000 has been paid out to officials affected by the demand to shave.
