Pakistan begins its two-year term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

In the United Nations, a ceremony was held for the non-permanent members of the Security Council.

Pakistan’s delegate Asim Iftikhar attended the flag-hoisting ceremony of the non-permanent members and then Pakistan’s flag was hoisted in the Security Council.

After which, Pakistan’s 2-year term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council began.

Flags of other non-permanent members Denmark, Greece, Panama and Somalia were also hoisted.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram said that as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, he will play an active and constructive role in dealing with the challenges facing the world.

It should be noted that Pakistan has been elected as a non-permanent member for the eighth time. In June last year, Pakistan received 182 votes out of 193 member countries of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Security Council consists of 5 permanent and 10 non-permanent members. The permanent members include the US, the UK, Russia, China and France.
