Pakistan to announce Champions Trophy, tri-series squad this week
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finalised the squad for the upcoming tri-series and the ICC Champions Trophy and is reportedly set to announce the team this week.
Both the ICC Champions Trophy and the Tri-Nation series featuring South Africa, Pakistan and New Zealand are scheduled to be played next month.
According to media reports, the announcement is expected within the next day or two.
The selection process for both tournaments has been finalised after extensive consultations with national selectors.
Captain Mohammad Rizwan, Babar Azam, Salman Ali Agha, Naseem Shah, Kamran Ghulam, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Abrar Ahmed are set to feature in the squad.
Apart from them, Fakhar Zaman, Khushdil Shah, and Saud Shakeel are strong contenders to feature in the squad.
However, the inclusion of young talent Saim Ayub remains uncertain due to an ongoing ankle injury. The names of Abbas Afridi and Aamir Jamal are also being considered for final selection.
Abdullah Shafique, Irfan Khan, Sufyan Muqeem and Mohammad Hasnain may struggle to secure a spot in the team.
