Chicken, mutton, and beef remain the most consumed meats during Ramadan due to their high nutritional value. People prepare special dishes to stay energized throughout fasting.

With the rising demand for chicken and beef during Iftar and Sehri, prices have also increased. To maintain market stability, the Lahore district administration has set official rates for essential items. However, citizens complain about a significant gap between these official prices and actual market rates.

In Lahore, beef prices have surged from Rs800 to Rs1,150-1,200 per kg, while mutton prices have soared to Rs2,400-2,600 per kg during Ramadan.

Despite government regulations, consumers report that meat vendors continue to sell at inflated rates. The price hike is primarily driven by increased demand, but authorities are urging butchers and shopkeepers to follow official rates to prevent consumer exploitation.
