Notices issued to PTI social media team for alleged anti-state campaign
The federal government has intensified its crackdown on individuals involved in negative propaganda against Pakistan’s sovereignty, the military, and security institutions on social media.
According to sources, a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has summoned 10 members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) social media team for questioning. Summons notices have been issued to the individuals as part of the probe.
The JIT was formed under Section 30 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 through an official notification.
It is being led by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad and is investigating elements accused of spreading anti-Pakistan content and baseless allegations online.
The purpose of the JIT is to identify and take legal action against those responsible for the propaganda in accordance with the law.
The individuals who have been summoned include Asif Rashid, Muhammad Arshad, Sibghatullah Warik, Azhar Mashwani, Muhammad Noman Afzal, Jibran Ilyas, Syed Salman Raza Zaidi, Zulfi Bukhari, Musa Warik, and Ali Hasnain Malik.
Sources claim the JIT has substantial evidence indicating their involvement.
