DNA Confirms Identity of Mir Raza Ali, Forensic Findings Emerge

11 August, 2026 17:17

The DNA identification process in the Mir Raza Ali case has been completed at the Sindh Forensic DNA and Serology Department, according to sources.

Sources said DNA taken from the unidentified body recovered after the incident matched samples from Mir Raza Ali’s parents. The match has confirmed that the recovered remains belong to Mir Raza Ali.

Meanwhile, a forensic report into his death has reportedly found traces of a sedative or incapacitating substance in his blood. Investigators are examining whether the substance played a role in the events before his disappearance and death.

The forensic report on Mir Raza Ali’s shirt has also been submitted to the inquiry committee. One examination found gunshot residue on the shirt, with a higher concentration reportedly detected on the back.

Traces of hydrochloric acid were also reportedly found on parts of the shirt.

The findings have raised the possibility that Mir Raza Ali may have been incapacitated before being abducted. However, investigators are continuing to examine other evidence to determine what happened.

The forensic examination was conducted by the Sindh Forensic DNA and Serology Laboratory (SFDL).

Three more forensic reports are also expected from laboratories at the University of Karachi. These reports will examine the recovered shirt, ballistic evidence and blood found on the clothing, including whether the blood or DNA belongs to another person.

Another report will focus on the DNA comparison between Mir Raza Ali’s remains and samples from his parents, which has now confirmed his identity.

Earlier, investigators reported finding traces consistent with acid in Mir Raza Ali’s stomach and lungs. Similar traces were also reportedly found on his hands and feet.

Sources further claimed that his shirt contained acid traces and what was described as sweat belonging to another person.

Mir Raza Ali went missing on July 28. According to investigators, his body was recovered the following day from bushes near Shahi Qila Ground in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. He had reportedly suffered a gunshot wound.
