State Bank releasing new currency notes for Eid 2025? Here’s detail

This year, reports suggest that the chances of the State Bank issuing fresh currency notes before Eidul Fitr are slim. The central bank has plans to introduce new banknote designs later in the year, which might delay the issuance of fresh notes for Eid. However, no official statement has been released on this matter.

Due to this uncertainty, people have started buying fresh notes from shopkeepers and money exchangers at high rates. A fresh bundle of Rs10 notes, originally worth Rs1,000, is being sold for Rs1,200 or even Rs1,250. This black-market trade of new notes has become common during Eid seasons.

When is Eidul Fitr 2025?

According to predictions, Eidul Fitr 2025 is expected to fall on March 31. People in Pakistan may enjoy five to six holidays during this festive occasion.

However, the final decision on the exact date of Eid will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee based on moon sighting.

With uncertainty over new currency notes, many are hoping for an official statement from the State Bank. Until then, fresh notes will likely continue to be sold at higher prices in the market.
