SBP announces three-day bank holiday for Eidul Fitr 2025

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that all banks across the country will remain closed from March 31 to April 2, 2025 (Monday to Wednesday) in observance of Eidul Fitr.

According to an official press release, the closure will apply to all financial institutions, including the SBP and commercial banks.

Earlier, the federal government also declared a three-day public holiday for Eidul Fitr 2025.

Eidul Fitr is expected to fall on March 31, following the completion of 29 days of Ramadan. The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council predicts that the Shawwal crescent will likely be sighted on the evening of March 30, given clear weather conditions.

Khalid Ijaz Mufti, Secretary General of the council, stated that the new moon will be born on March 29 at 3:58 PM Pakistan time. By sunset on March 30, the moon’s age will exceed 26 hours, making it visible to the naked eye.
