Sindh Assembly Witnesses Debate on Unity, Division and Public Grievances

Sindh Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah, speaking during the Sindh Assembly session, said the province had played a historic role in the creation of Pakistan. He noted that it was the Sindh Assembly that had passed the resolution supporting the establishment of Pakistan. Shah said all people living in Sindh were its sons and daughters and urged lawmakers to identify shortcomings in the government’s performance so that corrective measures could be taken.

Addressing the issue of calls for the division of Sindh, Shah said the people of the province held strong sentiments on the matter. He also claimed that Mustafa Kamal was no longer a supporter of dividing Sindh. Shah emphasized that Muhajirs living in Sukkur and other cities were an integral part of Sindh, adding that Muhajir traders operating in Sukkur’s markets did not want the province to be divided. He said Sindh belonged to all its communities and that political discourse should not create divisions among them.

Shah said the government did not want any form of discrimination in Sindh and stressed that all communities should live together as brothers and sisters. He urged political leaders and lawmakers to avoid rhetoric that could fuel hatred or ethnic divisions. He maintained that differences could be addressed through dialogue and democratic politics, while unity and collective efforts were necessary to resolve the province’s social and administrative challenges.
