4.7 magnitude earthquake jolts Karachi

Earthquake tremors felt in Peshawar & other KPK cities
A strong magnitude 4.6 earthquake hit 92 km (57 mi) away from Karachi, in the afternoon of Monday, Mar 31, 2025 at 4.10 pm local time (GMT +5). The depth of the quake could not be determined, but is assumed to be shallow.The quake was reported felt by some people near the epicenter.
While no immediate damage or injuries were reported, the sudden shaking sparked fear across the city. “I felt my desk wobble and rushed outside. Everyone in our neighborhood was on the streets,” said resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
The PMD confirmed the quake’s intensity and assured the public that no tsunami alerts were issued. Authorities urged calm, emphasizing that Karachi occasionally experiences mild seismic activity due to its proximity to tectonic fault lines.
“We’re monitoring aftershocks, but there’s no cause for alarm,” a PMD spokesperson stated. “Residents should stay vigilant and avoid crowded areas if tremors recur.”
