Eid ul Adha 2025 to be celebrated on June 6 in UAE

Astronomers have predicted the date of Eid-ul-Adha 2025 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), stating that the Islamic festival will fall on Friday, June 6, 2025.

As per the latest lunar calendar estimates released by Emirates Astronomy Society, the crescent moon of Dhul Hijjah, the month of Eid-ul-Adha will be sighted on May 27, 2025, thus May 28, will be the 1st of Dhul Hijjah.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, made the announcement on Sunday, explaining that the crescent moon would form on May 27 at 7:02 AM UAE time (06:02 GMT) and that it will be visible following sunset for about 38 minutes, making it possible to be sighted the same evening.

As per the UAE’s official public holiday calendar, the Arafat Day + Eid-ul-Adha 2025 holiday will be held from 9-12 Dhul Hijjah, 1445 Hijri, i.e. there will be a four-day-long public holiday. According to authorities, if Eid-ul-Adha 2025 falls on a Friday, UAE residents will enjoy a long weekend, as Thursday, Friday will be official holidays and Saturday, Sunday will be the usual weekend.

This year, Eid- ul-Adha in Pakistan will most likely be observed on Saturday, June 6, in line with lunar calculations, however, a final announcement will be made by the official moon sighting committee, whereas other countries will observe the Eid-ul-Adha based on the moon sighting criteria locally.

Eid ul-Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice is one of the greatest Islamic festivals celebrated globally with special prayers, Qurbani (sacrifice) of animals and charity. Eid ul-Adha is an occasion of commemoration of the immense faith, obedience, and steadfastness of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) and his son Prophet Ismael (A.S) and gratitude of believers who annually celebrate the festival.

Traditional festive celebrations along with food, and exchange of good wishes is part of this celebration, where families and neighbors enjoy the divine blessings and meat of sacrificed animals.
