Important Tips for Pakistanis to Avoid Job Scams in UAE

07 April, 2025 15:17

DUBAI – Many Pakistanis travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) every year for job opportunities. However, due to a lack of awareness, some fall victim to job scams and fraud in the UAE. To help avoid job scams in the UAE, the country’s government has shared important guidelines for job seekers.

A Pakistani citizen who receives a job offer from a UAE-based company must ensure that the offer letter is issued from the MOHRE. This would serve as formal proof of employment.

The next thing the job seeker can do is validate the genuineness of their job offer at the UAE Embassy in Pakistan. Job seekers can also use their job offer number and verify the employer’s details on the MOHRE website under the Application Status section.

Once the offer letter is signed, the employer will send an employment visa to the worker. To confirm the visa or entry permit is genuine, follow the steps listed on point 8 and 9 of the UAE’s official guidelines.

According to UAE labour laws, it is the employer’s duty to cover all recruitment costs. Job seekers are advised not to pay any agent or middleman.

Before accepting any offer, make sure the company actually exists. You can search the company’s name—either in English or Arabic—on the National Economic Register to view its registration details.

Also, never work in the UAE on a tourist or visit visa. Doing so is illegal and can lead to fines or legal trouble.

To verify the validity of an entry permit or visa from Dubai, visit the GDRFA website. For visas issued in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, or Fujairah, check using the eChannels platform.
