Pakistan can get rid of debt by taking advantage of mineral reserves: PM

PM Shehbaz announces major electricity rates cut by Rs7.41 per unit
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the country’s mineral reserves are worth trillions of dollars and by taking advantage of these mineral reserves, Pakistan can be free from the clutches of debt.
Addressing the Pakistan Minerals Investment Forum 2025 in Islamabad, the prime minister said that the forum would lead to increased investment in the mineral sector and further increase the confidence of investors.
He said that from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa mountains to Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan have huge mineral deposits while the land of Sindh and Punjab is also rich in natural resources. In Azad Kashmir too, there are many reserves of resources.
The prime minister said that the progress of the Reko diq project is encouraging, adding the mining in Balochistan will create employment opportunities and socio-economic development. Investment in the mineral sector is beneficial for all, he added.
