Petrol prices in Pakistan expected to drop from April 16 – Check new rates

09 April, 2025 13:59

Following a large decline in global oil prices, the price of petroleum products is likely to come down by Rs 15 per litre in Pakistan from April 16, 2025.

According to sources, the federal government plans to revise oil prices following the sharp decline in the international market. Sources of information have indicated a likely decrease in petrol to a decline of Rs 10 to Rs 15 per litre. High-speed diesel prices are forecasted to drop by Rs 8 to Rs 12 per litre.

Petroleum prices in Pakistan are revised every two weeks, based on global market trends and local economic factors. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is anticipated to deliver a summary to the Ministry of Finance in pursuit of lower fuel prices shortly. Once the new price range has received approval from the Prime Minister, the public will be informed.

In the last few weeks, the global oil market has gone through an obvious downturn trend, with Brent crude falling to a very low price of $63.64 per barrel (the lowest price it has been in nearly four years).

The declines appear to be related to fears of a global recession primarily because of heightened trade tensions between the U.S. and China. At the same time, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil fell to $60.05 per barrel amid perceived weaker oil demand and OPEC’s plans to raise supply. Analysts state the price drop is largely a product of economic growth worries alongside uncertainty about tariff policy.
