Solar Panel prices drop in Pakistan – April 2025

Solar panel prices drop after Pakistan cuts import duties
Hyderabad residents are seeing benefits from a noticeable reduction in the cost of solar panels attributed to the government’s new net metering policy.
The net metering policy allows homeowners to sell excess solar energy back to the grid. There is ample potential for solar power adoption to help with frequent power supply outages and rising temperatures.
Retailers in Hyderabad are stating that there has been a significant drop in prices, with high quality 585-watt A-grade solar panels selling for Rs16,500 instead of Rs22,000.
This price drop has generated more interest in solar systems, particularly among consumers wanting to reduce the effect of load shedding by Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO). Many citizens are using solar energy to escape the heat and keep necessary items operating during the hot summer months.
Local shopkeepers report that even families with low- incomes can afford solar setups that consist of complete systems selling from Rs20,000 to Rs22,000, which are usually used to power lights and fans. Experts also suggested that the price of solar panels may decline, making it feasible for middle and lower-income families to access solar technology.
As the summer heat intensifies due to climate change and load shedding persists, more residents are opting for solar power as a reliable alternative. The government’s net metering policy has proven to be a major step forward, enabling people to take advantage of renewable energy while reducing their reliance on the grid.
