MQM chief appeals people to stand up on April 12

10 April, 2025 20:43

Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chairman Afaq Ahmed has requested Karachites to come out for their rights on April 12 with a white flag.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, the MQM chairman said that he had invited political and religious parties to protest against all injustices happening in Karachi, protesting peacefully due to the government’s incompetence.

The MQM chief said that not only traffic accidents but also other injustices have taken place, the quality of education has been made terrible, here the entire center is changed, and the results are changed. Who is responsible for the suffering that the students in Karachi are going through?

Therefore, our protest is against corruption; we are protesting against the government’s excesses. I am saying again that this protest is peaceful; no one will be allowed to spread mischief.

Furthermore, there are people of all colors and races in Karachi. Injustice is being done to the people of Karachi. When I raised my voice about heavy traffic, I was blamed. I was accused of inciting refugees and Pashtuns to fight.

Afaq Ahmed further said that we will not allow the province’s water to be plundered. I tried to gather all the people, but I was declared a criminal.

Earlier, Karachi police have arrested Mohajir Qaumi Movement (MQM-H) Chairman Afaq Ahmed for allegedly inciting violence that led to citizens setting multiple cargo trucks on fire in protest against traffic accidents.

According to police sources, Ahmed was taken into custody from his residence in Defence by Landhi police.

Authorities claim that his remarks in a recent press conference encouraged people to attack heavy vehicles violating traffic restrictions.

Karachi has witnessed over 100 traffic-related deaths in the first 41 days of 2025. Frustration over the rising casualties led Ahmed to issue an ultimatum, demanding a complete ban on heavy traffic during restricted hours.
