Katy Perry, Amanda Nguyen Joins Historic All-Female Space Mission with Blue Origin NS-31
Pop superstar Katy Perry is about to trade the stage for the stars as she prepares to blast off on Blue Origin’s groundbreaking New Shepard NS-31 mission.
On April 15, 2025, Perry and five other trailblazing women will make history as the first all-female space crew in over 60 years—since Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova’s pioneering 1963 solo flight.
Meet the Stellar Crew
The mission, organized by Jeff Bezos’ aerospace company, brings together an extraordinary group:
- Lauren Sanchez (Jeff Bezos’ fiancée and philanthropist)
- Aisha Bowe (former NASA engineer)
- Amanda Nguyen (civil rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize nominee)
- Gayle King (award-winning CBS journalist)
- KeriAnne Flynn (film producer)
- Katy Perry (global music icon)
A Quick but Monumental Journey
The crew will lift off from West Texas at 8:30 AM local time (13:30 GMT) aboard Blue Origin’s fully autonomous spacecraft. In just 11 minutes, they’ll soar past the Kármán line—the official edge of space at 100 kilometers (62 miles) above Earth—where they’ll experience breathtaking views and a few magical moments of weightlessness.
Unlike traditional spaceflights, no pilots are needed—the capsule operates independently before making a gentle parachute landing back on Earth.
