Flour Prices Drop in Pakistan – Check New Rates

20kg flour bag price in Lahore Soar to Rs. 2,000.
Flour prices have experienced a significant decline in Lahore and several other cities across Punjab, following a notable decrease in wheat rates in the market.
According to recent market reports, the price of a 20-kg bag of flour has dropped by Rs200, bringing the new rate down to Rs1,500 from the earlier Rs1,700. The Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) Chairman, Asim Raza, confirmed that the price reduction is directly linked to the dip in wheat prices, which have now fallen to Rs2,600 per 40kg, down from Rs3,400.
He also noted that the cost of “Chakki” flour has come down by Rs10 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the price of refined and fine flour is currently set at Rs110 per kg.
In a media briefing, Asim Raza urged the Punjab government to allow the export of wheat-based products, rather than just raw wheat. He emphasized that the flour milling industry, which has been grappling with economic challenges and restrictive policies for years, needs trade reforms rather than financial aid.
Raza expressed frustration over the industry being unfairly labeled as involved in smuggling, calling for the restoration of inter-provincial movement of wheat. He highlighted that Punjab alone has the capacity to supply flour across Asia and argued that exporting finished wheat products would offer more value than raw exports.
