Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab inaugurated the Northern Bypass Cattle Market on Saturday, GTV news reported.
Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad also attended the inauguration ceremony of the Northern Bypass Cattle Market.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Mayor of Karachi said that the Northern Bypass is the largest livestock market in Asia where traders come from all over the country, security and cleanliness issues around the market will be resolved.
The Mayor of Karachi said that Karachi is bustling because of the cattle market, markets will not be allowed to be set up in different places, and wherever markets are set up, the administration will also collect taxes from them.
The administration says that more than three hundred thousand animals are expected to be bought and sold in the market.
Earlier, buyers from various parts of the port city have started visiting cattle market located on Northern Bypass as the Eidul Azha approaches.
The Asia’s largest cattle market is showcasing sacrificial animals brought from various parts of the country including Punjab, Sindh, KP and Balochistan.
The cattle market management said that specially equipped sheds are being installed at the VIP blocks of the market, where high-breed cattle has also started arriving.
They added that a special environment will be provided for the cattle at the VIP blocks. Facilities are also being provided to the buyers, they further said. Besides, police personnel and mobiles have been deployed on the main roads leading to the cattle market along with temporary check posts to provide security to the buyers.
Patrolling is started on the roads coming from Gulshan-e-Maymar, Ahsanabad, Surjani, and SITE Super Highway to ensure security to the visitors.
