Three High School Seniors Killed in Florida Crash, Including State Diving Champion

In a heartbreaking turn of events, three high school seniors from Massachusetts lost their lives in a devastating car crash in Florida during their spring break getaway.

The tragic accident occurred on Monday night when the SUV the teens were traveling in collided with a tractor trailer attempting a U-turn. The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that 18-year-old Jimmy McIntosh, who was driving the vehicle, and 17-year-old Hannah Wasserman, seated in the front passenger seat, died at the scene.

A third victim, Maisey O’Donnell, a celebrated high school diving champion, was rushed to the hospital but later succumbed to her injuries. O’Donnell had earned a stellar reputation for her athletic excellence, with her coach, Joe Chirico, describing her as “one of the best divers in the country.”

“The kids looked up to her. The other divers looked up to her,” Chirico shared in an emotional statement. “It’s a tragedy that somebody at the top of their game, going to the best academic school, one of the best divers in the nation, has been cut so short.”

Friends and family of Hannah Wasserman also paid heartfelt tributes. “Hannah was truly one of a kind: warm-hearted, kind, and always looking out for others,” said friends in a GoFundMe post. “She had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and loved. Whether it was a friend in need, a classmate having a rough day, or a stranger who needed a smile, Hannah showed up with compassion and care.”

Wasserman, described as a “bright light taken far too soon,” is being remembered for her empathy and uplifting spirit.

According to officials, a fourth student in the SUV was critically injured in the collision, while another passenger escaped without serious harm. The 19-year-old driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

Laurie Hunter, a local school superintendent, revealed that O’Donnell was also an organ donor — a testament to her giving nature even in death.

This spring break tragedy has shaken the students’ local community, leaving classmates, educators, and families grieving the loss of three promising young lives.
