Brazilian Bodybuilder Wanderson Da Silva Moreira Dies on Stage During Competition

12 May, 2025 14:50

A tragic incident shocked the bodybuilding world as Wanderson Da Silva Moreira, a 30-year-old athlete from Rondonópolis, collapsed and died on stage during a live competition on Saturday.

Wanderson was competing in the Pantanal Contest, a prestigious bodybuilding event that serves as a qualifying gateway to Mr. Olympia Brazil and the Arnold Classic South America. The event was held at the Jose Abrao Gymnasium in Campo Grande.

According to eyewitnesses, Wanderson appeared unsteady before suddenly collapsing in front of judges and a live audience. Medical staff rushed to assist and tried for over an hour to revive him, but he was pronounced dead shortly after.

Reports from local media suggest Wanderson suffered a cardiac arrest. A close friend who was with him that day confirmed that the athlete had felt unwell earlier but still chose to go ahead with the competition. The friend also revealed that Wanderson had a history of high blood pressure.

Wanderson’s coach, in a heartfelt tribute on social media, described him as more than an athlete:

“He was a great friend, a family man, a man with a huge heart who was always willing to help those who needed him. You are and always will be part of our team and family.”

Wanderson leaves behind a wife and two children.

The competition organizers extended their condolences to the family but declined to make further comments at this time.
