This is a reference to the editorial (May 13) on the issue of corrupt traffic police, which are spread in many areas of Karachi.
The culture of bribery has become so common that people have started considering it a routine affair to get their work done quickly. This culture is the root cause of corruption .
Corruption is a mindset , not an act. It is not considered a crime. Those who are in power, most of them are involved in corruption and bribery.
For example, it is easy to get away with a traffic violation by bribing the traffic police officials rather than having to pay them challans .
It is important to catch the corrupt. The higher authorities have to start a cleansing operation against the corrupt police and make sure to support honest officers instead of corrupt ones.
