15 May, 2025 14:46

KARACHI – May 15, 2025: Gold prices in Pakistan witnessed a significant drop on Thursday as the per tola rate declined by Rs6,700, settling at Rs335,200, according to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewelers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).

Similarly, the price of 10 grams of gold dropped by Rs5,745, reaching Rs287,379 in the local market.

This marks the second consecutive day of decline. Just a day earlier, on Wednesday, the gold rate had fallen by Rs2,300 per tola, bringing the price to Rs341,900.

The sharp drop in local prices follows a decrease in international gold rates. The global gold price slipped by $67, now standing at $3,168 per ounce (including a $20 premium), according to APGJSA sources.

In addition to gold, silver prices also declined. The price per tola of silver fell by Rs105, now trading at Rs3,377.

Jewellers attribute the price drop to the fall in international markets and reduced demand locally due to record-high levels earlier this month.
