How to Use AI to Design Your WhatsApp Profile Photo, Group Icons

WhatsApp has expanded its AI-generated features, rolling out a new feature that lets users create personalized, AI-generated profile pictures and group icons, adding a fresh layer of customization to the messaging platform.

The feature, powered by Meta AI, allows users to generate visually appealing and unique images simply by describing what they want. It’s currently being tested by a limited group of beta users, according to a report from WABetaInfo published on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

How to Create a WhatsApp AI-Generated Profile Picture:

1. Go to WhatsApp Settings.

2. Tap your profile photo.

3. Select Edit.

4. Choose AI images.

5. Enter a description of the image you want.

6. Browse through the AI-generated results and pick your favorite.

7. Tap Done to set it as your new profile picture.

How to Create an WhatsApp AI-Generated Group Icon:

1. Open the group chat you want to edit.

2. Tap the group name at the top.

3. Tap the group icon.

4. Select AI images.

5. Type in a description of the image you want to generate.

6. Choose from the AI-generated options.

7. Tap Done to set the new group icon.

This AI update aims to make WhatsApp more expressive and personalized, giving users creative control over how they represent themselves and their communities.
