British Tourist Lewis Jack Found Dead on Gold Coast – Family Devastated

A young British tourist, Lewis Jack, has been found dead in Australia’s Gold Coast after going missing over the weekend. He was just 22 years old.

Lewis was from Glasgow, Scotland. He was last seen on Saturday night, May 18, near Surfers Paradise, a busy beachside area in Queensland. He had reportedly ordered an Uber to return to his accommodation on Chevron Island, but never arrived.

Queensland Police began a search when he was reported missing. Sadly, his body was discovered in the Nerang River on Tuesday evening, May 20, near the Isle of Capri. Police said his death is not suspicious. They believe he accidentally fell into the water and drowned.

Grief and Tributes from Family and Friends

Lewis’s grandmother, Margaret Mooney, shared a heartbreaking post on social media. She wrote:
“RIP Lewis Jack, forever 22. Love you loads.”

His close friend, Gemma Robertson, also paid tribute:
“Lewis, I can’t believe you’re gone. You’ll never be forgotten. Fly high.”

Another friend, Fiona Prude, wrote:
“My heart breaks for all Lewis’s family. I wish we could have gotten him back safely.”

Lewis had last been seen walking on Gibraltar Drive, close to the riverbank. It is believed he may have lost his balance and fallen into the river.

GoFundMe Launched to Bring Lewis Home

A GoFundMe page has been created by Toni-Lee Donnelly on behalf of Lewis’s family. The aim is to raise £12,000 to help cover funeral expenses and repatriate his body back to Scotland.

So far, the fundraiser has collected over £3,600.

The organiser wrote:
“Lewis was one of the kindest souls. His smile lit up every room. He is deeply loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him. Every donation means the world to us.”

Investigation Concludes

Police confirmed that no foul play is suspected. A post-mortem will likely follow, but initial signs suggest a tragic accident. Authorities continue to support the family during this difficult time.
