Islamabad, KP Face Heavy Rain, Hail and Windstorm

24 May, 2025 15:47

As predicted by the weather department, Islamabad and nearby areas saw strange and stormy weather on Saturday. Heavy rain and thunder turned daytime into near darkness in many parts of the city.

People were reminded of the April hailstorm and were worried again about damage to their houses and cars. However, this time, the hailstones were smaller than before.

The strong winds and rain caused power outages in different parts of Islamabad. Similar weather was seen in Rawalpindi, where loud thunder came along with the rain.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, many districts were also hit by strong winds, heavy rain, and thunderstorms. Haripur and Khanpur had intense rain and wind, while Abbottabad experienced steady rain all day. Thunderstorms with lightning were reported in Lower Dir and Buner as well.

Nearby Swabi also got heavy rainfall, and in Mansehra, stormy winds caused some short-term disruptions.

In Faisalabad, the weather improved a bit as cool winds brought relief from the heat. Temperatures dropped slightly, with the high expected to reach 39°C. The humidity was at 44%, and winds were blowing at 3 km/h. The weather department says more rain is possible in the next 24 hours, which may help lower the temperature further.

The Met Office has advised people to stay alert, as similar weather conditions are likely to continue over the next day.
