Why Twitter is down? X (Formerly Twitter) Crashes Globally for Second Time in Two Days

Millions of users around the world were left frustrated on Saturday as X (formerly known as Twitter) suffered a massive outage — the second in just two days.

Major Glitch Hits Website, App, and XPro

The outage impacted all major platforms, including the X mobile app, desktop site, and XPro (formerly TweetDeck). Reports flooded in from across the UK, the United States, and other countries, with users unable to view or post content.

“Cannot retrieve posts at this time. Please try again later,” read the error message faced by many.

According to Downdetector, over 11,000 users in the UK and 25,000+ users in the US reported issues.

Fire at U.S. Data Center May Be Linked

The downtime follows a massive fire on Thursday at a data center in Hillsboro Technology Park, Oregon, where X is believed to lease infrastructure. While Digital Realty, the site operator, confirmed that no one was injured and the situation is under control, it remains unclear whether the fire is connected to the global outage.

Users Flee to Rivals as Musk Faces Backlash

Frustrated users took to BlueSky, a rising X competitor, to vent and mock the app’s instability.

“Twitter is fully down again lmfao,” one BlueSky user wrote.

“That app is cooked,” added another.

The technical troubles come at a bad time for Elon Musk, who is already facing:

• A political setback in Wisconsin, where Musk-backed candidate Brad Schimel lost despite heavy funding.

• A 13% drop in Tesla sales, linked to both Musk’s controversial posts and growing competition in China.

• Mounting criticism over his “DOGE” initiative and role in government affairs.

While services at X have started returning for some users, no official cause has been confirmed. The repeated outages raise concerns over platform stability under Musk’s ownership, after his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter.
