Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to Meet in Islamabad Today for Zilhajj 1446 Hijri Moon Sighting

Muharram 2025 Moon Sighting in Pakistan | Ashura Date Expected Soon
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to convene in Islamabad today (Tuesday) to sight the Zilhajj 1446 Hijri moon.
The meeting will be chaired by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, who leads the committee. At the same time, Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees will hold separate sessions at their respective locations to witness the Zilhajj moon Sighting.
Each year, millions of Muslims gather in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform the Hajj pilgrimage. Eidul Adha, which takes place on the 10th day of Zilhajj, is expected to be observed this year on Saturday, July 7.
Known as the Festival of Sacrifice, Eidul Adha commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command. The occasion is traditionally marked by the ritual slaughter of animals, with the meat distributed among family, friends, and those in need.
The act of sacrifice, which symbolizes devotion and charity, is observed over the three days of Eid.
