Offices, Courts to Remain Closed Tomorrow on Account of Youm-e-Takbeer
All offices across the country will remain closed tomorrow in observance of Youm-e-Takbeer, as per reports.
The Supreme Court has issued a circular announcing its closure on May 28, as directed by the cabinet division.
Similarly, the Lahore High Court (LHC) and all subordinate courts will also be closed on May 28 in honor of Youm-e-Takbeer.
The LHC registrar has issued an official notification confirming that the LHC, along with sessions and civil courts, will not be functioning on that day.
The special day is celebrated nationwide to commemorate Pakistan’s nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998.
These nuclear detonations were carried out as a defensive response to India’s nuclear tests earlier that month.
With these tests, Pakistan became the seventh nuclear power globally and the first among Muslim countries, having conducted the explosions at Chaghai in Balochistan following India’s tests on May 11 and 13 at Pokhran, Rajasthan.
At that time, Nawaz Sharif was Pakistan’s prime minister, and despite international pressure from major powers to refrain, he authorized the nuclear tests.
