Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif Inaugurates Pakistan’s Largest Model Cattle Market in Lahore
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated Pakistan’s largest model cattle market located at Shahpur Kanjran in Lahore.
During her visit, CM Maryam Nawaz reviewed the modern facilities at the market, which include shaded animal enclosures, veterinary services, and infrastructure designed to improve the experience for both traders and buyers.
She received a detailed briefing on the Shahpur Kanjran Model Cattle Market Project, which covers 74 acres and can accommodate up to 25,000 large animals and 150,000 small animals.
For the first time in Pakistan, fans have been installed inside the animal sheds to enhance comfort during hot weather. The market also features a quarantine centre to safeguard livestock from infectious diseases.
To support livestock traders, the market offers 20 large residential rooms, along with a mosque, washrooms, a veterinary clinic, a tuck shop, a bank, and an ATM for daily needs.
Additionally, the market includes a loading and unloading bay, truck centre, auction bay, and a modern slaughterhouse to facilitate efficient animal trade and transportation. There is also ample parking space, a police post, and spacious open areas for operations.
This project represents a significant move towards modernising Punjab’s livestock sector. Plans are underway to establish the second-largest model cattle market in Jhang.
At the inauguration of Pakistan’s largest cattle market, CM Maryam Nawaz presented shields to officials and contributors for their exceptional efforts on this important project.
