Sindh govt SOPs released on Eid ul Adha 2025
The Sindh Home Ministry has announced new rules (SOPs) for collecting sacrificial animal hides during Eid ul Adha 2025.
According to a notice dated May 29, 2025, only approved welfare organisations will be permitted to collect hides, and they must obtain permission from the Deputy Commissioner.
Anyone collecting hides without permission will face legal action. The use of loudspeakers and banners to solicit donations is also banned to maintain peace during the festival. If anyone tries to force people to give hides, they will be strictly punished, and the hides will be handed over to approved groups.
Police and law enforcement will carry out on-site inspections, and those breaking the rules will be charged under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
To keep the city safe, all arms permits in Karachi will be suspended during Eid. Only commissioners and deputy commissioners can allow group animal sacrifices.
Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee has announced that Eid ul Adha will be on Saturday, June 7, 2025, as the Zil Hajj moon was not sighted in any major city of Pakistan.
Eid ul Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, honors Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son to obey God. On this occasion, Muslims sacrifice animals and share the meat with family, friends, and the poor.
Preparations for Eid are already underway across Pakistan, with cattle markets set up for people to buy animals for sacrifice.
