Who was Khushboo Rajpurohit? Young Bride Among Victims of Air India Crash

13 June, 2025 14:25

Friday, June 13, 2025 — One of the heartbreaking stories to emerge from the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad is that of Khushboo Rajpurohit, a 21-year-old bride who had boarded the doomed flight to reunite with her husband in London.

A New Beginning Cut Short

Khushboo, who belonged to Araba village in Rajasthan, had recently married Manfool Singh, a student based in London, in January 2025. Their marriage had been arranged in India, and this flight was her first journey abroad — a much-awaited reunion with her husband.

Shortly before boarding the Boeing Dreamliner, Khushboo had taken a cheerful selfie at the airport with a relative. Sadly, she never reached her destination. The flight crashed just minutes after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, killing her and over 240 others.

The Scale of the Tragedy

Among the victims were several children and entire families, including a family of five from Rajasthan relocating to London. Also lost were Komi Vyas and Dr. Prateek Joshi, both doctors, traveling with their three children. Their smiling family selfie taken inside the plane moments before takeoff has since gone viral — now a haunting memory.

The plane struck a doctors’ hostel in Ahmedabad, killing at least four medical students and several relatives staying inside. Authorities say most bodies were charred beyond recognition, making identification difficult.

One Miraculous Survivor

The only confirmed survivor is Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British national from Leicester. His condition is stable, though he remains deeply concerned for his missing brother, Ajay Ramesh, who was also on the flight.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Vishwash in the hospital and pledged a full investigation into the cause of the crash. UK authorities have also confirmed they are sending AAIB experts to support the inquiry due to the number of British nationals involved.

Investigation Underway

Officials are working to recover both black boxes — crucial for understanding what went wrong. Meanwhile, India has temporarily grounded the entire Boeing 787-8 fleet as a precaution.

The world watches as loved ones of the victims wait for answers and grieve unimaginable losses like that of Khushboo Rajpurohit — a young woman full of dreams, whose life ended far too soon.
