National Assembly Passes Resolution Opposing Israeli Aggression On Iran
On Friday, the National Assembly passed a unanimous resolution strongly condemning what it described as the unjustified and illegitimate aggression by Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The resolution highlighted that the attack resulted in significant loss of lives and property for the Iranian people.
The motion, presented by Pakistan Peoples Party member Syed Naveed Qamar, stated, “This House notes with utter disgust and dismay that the strikes carried in the dark hours of June 13, 2025 is not only a serious violation of the sovereignty and integrity of a United Nations Member state but it also clearly contravenes the fundamental principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.”
The resolution warned that Israel’s ongoing acts of aggression have not only destabilized the Middle East but have also endangered global peace, with responsibility for the consequences lying solely with Israel.
Furthermore, the resolution affirmed Iran’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
The National Assembly reiterated Pakistan’s full solidarity with the Government, Parliament, and people of Iran, expressing condolences for those who lost their lives in the resolution.
The House urged the government to immediately convene meetings of the United Nations Security Council and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss the situation, condemn the aggression, and work towards an immediate cessation of hostilities in Iran.
