Suzuki Swift new price in Pakistan after Budget 2025-26 taxes

14 June, 2025 15:28

Buying a car in Pakistan is about to get more expensive, especially for those planning to buy a Suzuki Swift. The federal budget for 2025 has introduced new taxes that have pushed up car prices significantly.

The government has increased the General Sales Tax (GST) from 12.5% to 18% on small cars (up to 850cc) and added a new 1% Green Tax on all petrol and diesel cars. These changes aim to increase government revenue and encourage eco-friendly transport, but they’re also hitting buyers hard.

Here’s how the new taxes have affected Swift prices:

ModelOld PriceNew Tax AddedNew Price
Swift GL MTRs. 4,336,000Rs. 263,007Rs. 4,599,007
Swift GL CVTRs. 4,560,000Rs. 276,365Rs. 4,836,365
Swift GLX CVTRs. 4,719,000Rs. 284,936Rs. 5,003,936
Swift GLX CVT Two-ToneRs. 4,719,000Rs. 284,936Rs. 5,003,936

These tax hikes apply to both locally assembled and imported petrol or diesel cars. While the government hopes this will push people toward electric vehicles, many regular car buyers are worried about affordability.

Experts say that unless incomes rise, owning a car may soon become a luxury for many Pakistanis.
