Weather Alert: PMD Predicts Rainfall in Several Regions Over Next 24 Hours

Large parts of the country continue to endure an intense heatwave, with temperatures in many areas soaring above 45°C. However, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has made a rain prediction for several regions over the next 24 hours, which may bring some much-needed relief.

Karachi: Heat & Humidity Continue

The heat remains persistent in Karachi. On Sunday morning, the temperature rose to 32°C, with the day’s high expected to reach around 38°C.

  • Wind Speed: 8 km/h (from the west)

  • Humidity: Over 75%

  • Rain Forecast: None

  • Weather Outlook: Hot and humid conditions to persist

Health officials have urged residents to stay hydrated by consuming plenty of fluids.

Lahore: Rain Likely Within 24 Hours

The weather department has forecast light to heavy rainfall for Lahore and surrounding areas within the next 24 hours. Despite a cloudy morning, the heat remained palpable due to a lack of breeze.

  • Temperature Range: 33°C (min) to 42°C (max)

  • Humidity: 33%

  • Rain Forecast: Likely, along with potential relief from current conditions

Kasur and Pattoki: Rain Brings Respite

Several areas in Kasur and Pattoki received light to heavy showers on Sunday morning, offering temporary relief from the oppressive heat.

Nationwide Rain Predictions

The Met Office expects rain, accompanied by gusty winds, in various regions over the next 24 hours. Affected areas include:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:

  • Islamabad, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Shangla, Kohistan, Abbottabad

  • Peshawar, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Kohat, Karak, Waziristan

Punjab:

  • Murree, Galyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Rawalpindi

  • Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Bhakkar

  • Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Lahore, Sheikhupura

  • Faisalabad, Jhang, Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan

  • Layyah, Multan, Bahawalpur

Some areas may also experience hailstorms.

Sindh: Scattered Rainfall Possible

The majority of Sindh will remain under hot and humid conditions. However, isolated showers and strong winds are expected in:

  • Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Shikarpur

  • Mithi, Mirpurkhas, Umarkot

Balochistan: Rainfall Forecast in Multiple Districts

Rainfall is expected in various parts of Balochistan, including:

  • Quetta, Ziarat, Pishin, Mastung, Kalat

  • Dera Bugti, Zhob, Sibbi, Musakhel, Barkhan

  • Khuzdar, Lasbela, Loralai

While the country continues to face extreme heat, particularly in Sindh and southern Punjab, the prediction of rain by PMD across northern and central regions offers hope for temporary relief. Residents are advised to stay indoors during peak heat hours and keep hydrated.
