Peshawar BRT Fare Increased by Rs10 per Stop, Effective July 1 – Check New Fares
Peshawar BRT fares to increase by Rs10 per stop from July 1
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Urban Mobility Authority has officially announced a fare increase for the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. Starting July 1, the per-stop fare will rise by Rs10, marking a significant change for daily commuters in the city.
Reason for the Fare Hike
According to the Transport Department, the fare adjustment is a direct response to rising inflation and operational losses. Officials stated that the hike is necessary to reduce the financial burden on the BRT system and ensure its sustainability.
“This revision is essential for maintaining uninterrupted service and balancing the project’s growing operational costs,” said an official spokesperson.
Current Impact
The BRT has been a popular transport option since its launch, serving thousands of passengers daily. However, many users have expressed concern over the fare increase, especially considering the ongoing economic challenges faced by citizens.
Transport authorities have not announced any changes in the monthly or special fare cards yet, but updates are expected closer to the implementation date.
