Ayatollah Khamenei Picks 3 Successors Amid Threats, Son Mujtaba Not Included

Ayatollah Khamenei Successors
An American newspaper has claimed that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has made an important decision and decided on his potential successor.
A New York Times report claims that the Iranian Supreme Leader has suggested the names of three clerics as his potential successor.
According to the American newspaper, Ayatollah Khamenei took this “extraordinary step” in view of the intensification of Israeli attacks. The Iranian Supreme Leader fears that Israel or the United States may try to assassinate him.
The New York Times report claims that the names of the three scholars suggested by Ayatollah Khamenei for his successor do not include the name of his son, Mujtaba, who is a religious scholar and is considered close to the Revolutionary Guards. He has been considered a possible successor to Ayatollah Khamenei.
However, former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi was also considered a possible candidate for succession, but he died in a helicopter crash in 2024.
