PMD Karachi Weather Alert; Heavy Showers

25 June, 2025 15:19

As of June 25, 2025, Karachi is experiencing partly cloudy, hot, and humid weather. Temperatures are between 36°C and 38°C. Morning humidity levels are high, ranging from 70% to 80%, while evening humidity drops to around 55% to 65%. Winds blow from the south and southwest. No heavy rainfall has been reported today. However, monsoon currents coming from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are increasing humidity in the region.

Karachi Weather Forecast

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi will see rain, strong winds, and thundershowers between June 25 and 28. Heavy rainfall is expected from June 26 to June 28. This may cause urban flooding, especially in low-lying areas. PMD has warned residents to avoid flood-prone zones and secure any loose structures to prevent damage.

The city experienced light rain on June 24, with the first monsoon spell starting on June 20. These rains are part of the seasonal monsoon system affecting the region.

Islamabad and Rawalpindi Weather Update

Islamabad is also hot and humid, with daytime temperatures around 32°C to 33°C. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to begin on the night of June 25. A westerly wave moving into upper Pakistan will trigger rainfall from June 25 to July 1. Heavy rain may cause flash floods and urban flooding in low-lying parts of Islamabad. PMD has also warned about the risk of landslides in nearby hilly areas.

Rawalpindi shares similar weather conditions with Islamabad. Temperatures are between 32°C and 36°C. Rain and thunderstorms will start from the evening of June 25 and continue through July 1. The heavy rains may bring flash floods and landslides to vulnerable areas.

Broader Weather Patterns

The westerly wave becoming active by June 26 will combine with moist monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. This will cause widespread rain across several provinces, including Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

PMD has issued alerts for urban flooding, flash floods, and possible landslides. Authorities advise people to stay updated with weather forecasts and take precautions.
