Washington – United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Wednesday that talks with Iran could take place as early as next week, depending on Tehran’s willingness to engage in peace negotiations.
Rubio stated that it is up to Iran to decide whether it wants to negotiate for peace, adding that the U.S. remains open to dialogue.
He emphasized that President Donald Trump is committed to peace and is willing to speak with anyone to reduce global tensions.
“President Trump has played a historic role in promoting peace,” Rubio said. “We are ready to talk to any country in the world to achieve peace.”
The statement comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East, following recent U.S. and Israeli military actions targeting Iranian nuclear sites. Despite the strain, Washington appears open to diplomatic efforts to avoid further escalation.
