COAS Asim Munir Calls India the Biggest Terrorism Sponsor in the Region

27 June, 2025 11:09

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, on June 27, 2025 in Rawalpindi, sharply criticized India as the region’s “largest state sponsor of terrorism,” urging neighboring countries to stay alert to Indian-linked proxy groups.

In a speech to officers attending the 52nd Common Training Programme at the Civil Services Academy, Munir emphasized Pakistan’s desire for friendly relations with Afghanistan, but warned that Islamabad would not tolerate Afghan soil being used by groups such as Fitna al‑Hindustan and Fitna al‑Khawarij. He made clear that Pakistan would never yield to Indian dominance, attributing the rise of terrorism in India to its internal policies and discriminatory treatment of minorities.

COAS Asim Munir also highlighted the readiness of Pakistan’s military to respond to modern threats, referencing recent confrontations along the Line of Control and across Pakistan’s eastern borders.

He praised what he called “Ma’rakah‑e‑Haq,” the decisive Pakistani military response to April’s unprovoked Indian strikes—strikes which reportedly killed over 50 people and involved drone and jet incursions—asserting that downing Indian aircraft and targeting installations across the border were justified measures.

Field Marshal credited the U.S.’s diplomatic intervention for ending the crisis and said Pakistan’s stance had divine backing due to its moral high ground.

Beyond military preparedness, COAS underscored the importance of national unity.

He stressed close cooperation among Pakistan’s institutions—military, civil bureaucracy, and government—calling them pillars of state cohesion.

Field Marshal delivered a powerful reminder that a nation which forgets its history risks losing its future. To the group of officers, he emphasized the virtues of character, competence, and courage, stressing that if one must be chosen, character should come first. Finally, he reiterated that public trust in the armed forces is essential for national progress and urged unwavering loyalty to Pakistan above all else.
