China Issues Update After U.S President Trump Reveals Trade Deal
On June 27, 2025, China confirmed it had reached an agreement with the United States to accelerate the export of rare earth materials. This comes after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that a new trade deal with Beijing had been signed.
The deal addresses concerns raised during earlier trade talks in Geneva, where negotiations slowed due to U.S. worries that China was delaying exports of rare earths. These materials are crucial for manufacturing high-tech products like electric vehicles and electronics.
Following a phone call between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the two sides held further talks in London to resolve the issues. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce spokesperson said the leaders had approved the agreement’s details, and the U.S. will lift some of its restrictions.
China expressed hope that both countries would continue to improve trade relations.
Before the official confirmation, China announced it would speed up approvals for rare earth exports to support high-tech industries. Meanwhile, President Trump called the deal a major step, saying, “In the China deal, we’re starting to open up China.”
U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick also confirmed the deal’s completion and praised President Trump as a strong dealmaker, promising more agreements to come.
This is a developing story; more updates will be provided.
