30 June, 2025 14:08

A British woman has tragically died in a jet ski accident near the Spanish resort of Estepona. The 43-year-old was on holiday in the area when the accident happened on Saturday evening at around 7:25 PM.

The crash took place at Los Toros beach, which is close to Manilva, a small town in the Malaga province on the southern coast of Spain. It is a popular area for tourists.

What Happened?

The woman was riding as a passenger on a jet ski, which was being driven by her partner. They were hit from behind by a speedboat, according to reports from Spanish police.

The driver of the speedboat was a friend of the couple. A police source said he was given a breath test after the crash and failed it. This means he may have been under the influence of alcohol.

Immediate Response

Witnesses who were on the beach saw the collision and quickly called for help. Emergency services were sent to the scene. The Spanish Civil Guard, a coastguard boat named Gadir, and medical teams responded to the incident.

Sadly, the woman died instantly. She was declared dead at the scene. Her name has not yet been made public.

Investigation Ongoing

Police confirmed the woman was British and said she was on vacation. The nationalities of the jet ski driver (her partner) and the speedboat driver have not been officially released.

The driver of the speedboat may face criminal charges related to drunk boating and causing death by reckless behavior. The police have not confirmed an arrest yet, but an investigation is underway.

Authorities are continuing to collect evidence and witness statements.
