M60 LIVE: Crash Near Stockport Triggers 90-Minute Delays and Six-Mile Queues

Greater Manchester – A two-car crash on the M60 motorway near Stockport caused major travel disruption early this morning.
The collision happened around 6:30am at junction 27, close to the Portwood Roundabout. The crash forced authorities to completely block the clockwise carriageway while emergency teams responded.
By 8:00am, lanes 2 and 3 had reopened. However, lane 1 remains closed, and drivers are still facing long delays.
Massive Delays and Queue Build-Up
Traffic data from National Highways and Inrix confirmed delays of up to 90 minutes, with queues stretching six miles back to junction 23 near Ashton-under-Lyne.
“Severe delays and one lane closed,” travel monitoring service Inrix reported. “The entry slip road is partially blocked due to the earlier accident on M60 clockwise at J27.”
National Highways added: “Emergency services remain at the scene. 90-minute delays above normal journey times with 6 miles of congestion.”
Minor Injuries Reported
Police officials confirmed that those involved in the crash sustained minor injuries. Emergency medical teams were present on-site as a precaution.
Motorists are being advised to use alternative routes until congestion eases. Suggested diversions include local roads through Stockport, or exiting early at junction 25 or 26.
